Layout tests

To get a rough idea of how the characters will actually look with the backgrounds in the final cut, layout tests need to be done to ensure the characters look like they belong in the world the backgrounds are created in, as well as making sure they don't get lost in them.

This was the original layout based on the photos I used as reference in my moodboards, however, the colour palette was too cold (too many blues and grays) and it didn't give off the hot warm climate that you would feel in a sprawl like L.A.
This was a loose layout test done by Elizabeth, a fellow classmate, the colours are warm and the style is gritty but simple, a perfect combination of what I wanted, I gave her the original sketch of my first layout and asked her to make a cleaned up version; the image below is her completed background with my characters placed over it. I'm happy with how it now looks and Elizabeth is on board to make some more backgrounds for me in the film.
