A little accident.
On Friday the 9th of May, I was riding home from university in a storm, on my motorbike when a tree fell in front of me. I broke my drawing hand and fractured my left hand, as well as some severe bruising on my arms. I am confident that this will hinder progress on the project with constant trips to the hospital and not being able to draw/write/type properly.
On the plus side on the night of the crash, I had completed tweaking the final shots and doing the credits for the film. All we have left to do now is the SFX and music, which coming along nicely.

Last week we got Andrew Laurence, a music student in Bristol on board to compose an original soundtrack for Crocodile Tears, I am very impressed with what he's produced for and away from the project, we gave him a list of details and recommendations for the music and are currently working with him to get it perfect.
Also as of today, all animation (keyframes, in-betweens, cleanup and colour) for Crocodile Tears is complete! 12 days before the deadline, me and my producer will be using this extra time to focus on music, sound and grading for the film. We're hoping to have a fully finished 5 minutes short by the 23rd of May.

New Background Artist and Backgrounds
Over the Easter holiday my lead background artist, Jack has gone back home to Italy, leaving me without new backgrounds for 4 weeks. However Alex Barnes has stepped forward, volunteering to do backgrounds, starting off by producing this lovely long panning shot of the storm drain in scene 2. The sign and fence in the foreground was exported on a separate layer so that they could scroll past faster in the animation when the camera pans along the drain, giving a better sense of depth and perspective in the animation.

Scene 1 shot 1 cleaned with rough background
I am staying over the Easter Holidays and hopefully able to remain in the studio to work and get even further ahead with the project. Today I finished cleaning up shot 11 of scene 1 and added a rough background for Jack my background artist to reference when colouring the final piece.
I have started doing this with a few of the other shots, shown below.
